Bold, vibrant, and seriously collectible — Monstera Deliciosa ‘Neon Lava’ is a striking tissue culture line recognised for its intense neon yellow-green variegation and dramatic halfmoon-style expression.

Its defining feature is the contrast between rich green foliage and brilliant shades of yellow, chartreuse and electric lime. The variegation can form large contrasting sections and halfmoon-style divisions across the leaf, creating the vivid, high-energy appearance that gives Neon Lava its name.

Unlike softer mint or cream-variegated Monsteras, Neon Lava carries a much brighter, warmer palette. The almost fluorescent yellow-green tones stand dramatically against the darker green sections of the foliage, producing a collector Monstera with serious visual impact.

As the plant establishes and matures, its leaves increase in size and develop the characteristic fenestration of Monstera deliciosa, giving the contrasting neon variegation even more space to make an impact.

✨ Tissue Culture Acclimation

Tissue culture plantlets require careful acclimation after being removed from their sealed growing environment.

For the best chance of success:

• Carefully remove the plantlet from the bag or flask.
• Thoroughly rinse all agar from the roots and foliage.
• Sterilise and treat the plantlet by following the supplied NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation Protocol.
• Apply rooting hormone where recommended.
• Plant into a clean, sterile and moisture-retentive acclimation medium.
• Keep the plantlet inside a humidity dome with warm, stable temperatures and high humidity.
• Begin under low to moderate indirect light.
• Avoid intense grow lights or direct sunlight during the first few weeks.
• Gradually increase airflow and light while slowly reducing humidity as the plantlet establishes.

Every order includes an NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation Pack and access to our detailed NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation Protocol.

Stability is more important than intensity during the first few weeks.

Avoid repeatedly changing the plantlet’s humidity, temperature, lighting or growing medium. Give it time to recover from deflasking, establish new roots and gradually adapt to normal growing conditions.

Tissue culture plantlets are young, living plants, and some loss is always possible during acclimation. Please ensure you are comfortable with the process and have an appropriate growing environment before purchasing.

✨ Quick Care Tips:

💧 Water: Once established, keep evenly moist and allow the top layer of substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid prolonged saturation.

☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light supports strong growth and allows the vivid yellow-green variegation to stand out. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, particularly while new foliage is hardening.

🌫 Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity for healthy foliage and consistent growth.

🌡 Temps: Thrives between approximately 18–28 °C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

🪴 Soil: Once fully acclimated, performs exceptionally well in our NPG Aroid Formula, providing the ideal balance of airflow, moisture retention and structure to support strong root development. Alternatively, use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite and coco.

🌱 NPG Tip:

Neon Lava is all about contrast. Give each new leaf time to fully emerge and harden before judging its final colour and patterning.

Once established, provide sturdy vertical support to encourage larger leaves and increasingly mature fenestration. Stable warmth, bright indirect light and consistent care will allow the brilliant yellow-green tones and dramatic halfmoon expression to become increasingly impressive as the plant matures.
