Bold, architectural, and highly collectible — Alocasia Sanderiana Pseudo Aurea Variegated combines dramatic dark foliage with striking golden-yellow variegation and the sharply defined structure this collector form is known for.

The foliage develops in deep green tones with prominent pale venation and strongly undulating margins. Across this dark base, aurea variegation appears in shades of yellow, gold and chartreuse, producing a rich contrast that can range from fine marbling and mottling through to larger sections of colour.

The interaction between the golden variegation, pale vein structure and dark green foliage creates a layered three-tone appearance, while the sculpted leaf margins give the plant an unmistakably architectural presence.

As it matures, the leaves become larger and increasingly dramatic, allowing both the characteristic Sanderiana-style structure and warm aurea colouring to make an even stronger impact.

✨ Tissue Culture Acclimation

Tissue culture plantlets require careful acclimation after being removed from their sealed growing environment.

For the best chance of success:

• Carefully remove the plantlet from the bag or flask.
• Thoroughly rinse all agar from the roots and foliage.
• Sterilise and treat the plantlet by following the supplied NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation Protocol.
• Apply rooting hormone where recommended.
• Plant into a clean, sterile and moisture-retentive acclimation medium.
• Keep the plantlet inside a humidity dome with warm, stable temperatures and high humidity.
• Begin under low to moderate indirect light.
• Avoid intense grow lights or direct sunlight during the first few weeks.
• Gradually increase airflow and light while slowly reducing humidity as the plantlet establishes.

Stability is more important than intensity during the first few weeks.

Avoid repeatedly changing the plantlet’s humidity, temperature, lighting or growing medium. Give it time to recover from deflasking, establish new roots and gradually adapt to normal growing conditions.

Tissue culture plantlets are young, living plants, and some loss is always possible during acclimation. Please ensure you are comfortable with the process and have an appropriate growing environment before purchasing.

💧 Water: Once established, keep the growing medium lightly and consistently moist, allowing the upper layer to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid prolonged saturation.

☀️ Light: Bright, indirect light supports strong growth and helps showcase the characteristic golden-yellow aurea variegation. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.

🌫 Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally 60% or higher, for strong foliage development.

🌡 Temps: Thrives in warm, stable conditions between approximately 18–28 °C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

🪴 Soil: Once fully acclimated, performs exceptionally well in our NPG Aroid Formula, providing the ideal balance of airflow, moisture retention and structure to support healthy root development. Alternatively, use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix.

Aurea variegation is at its best against the naturally dark foliage of this plant. Bright, consistent indirect light helps support strong growth while allowing the yellow and golden tones to stand out.
