🌿 Alocasia Amazonica ‘Purpley’ – Purple New Growth with Classic Amazonica Contrast

Dramatic, structured and full of contrast, Alocasia Amazonica ‘Purpley’ brings rich purple colouring to the iconic foliage of the Amazonica group.

New leaves can emerge with deep purple to bronzed tones before developing a darker green upper surface highlighted by bold silvery veins and sharply sculpted margins. Deep-purple leaf undersides add another layer of colour, making this cultivar striking from every angle.

As the plant establishes and matures, its elongated, arrow-shaped foliage becomes larger and more defined, creating an impressive architectural display without requiring variegation to stand out.

✨ Tissue Culture Information

This plant is supplied as a young tissue-culture plantlet and must be carefully acclimatised after removal from its sealed growing environment.

Every order includes an NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation Pack. Please read both guides before purchasing or deflasking your plantlet:

NPG Tissue Culture Acclimatisation Protocol
NPG Tissue Culture Acclimation & Aftercare Guide

Tissue-culture plantlets are young, living plants, and some loss is always possible during acclimation. Please ensure you have an appropriate growing environment and are comfortable with the process before purchasing.

✨ Care Once Acclimatised

Provide bright, indirect light, moderate to high humidity and warm, stable temperatures of approximately 20–28°C.

Once fully acclimatised, we recommend growing your Alocasia in our NPG Alocasia Formula or pon using a self-watering setup. Both options provide consistent access to moisture while maintaining the airflow around the roots needed for healthy, stable growth.

🌱 NPG Tip

The strongest purple tones are often seen while new foliage is emerging and may change as the leaf hardens.

Stable warmth, bright indirect light and consistent moisture will encourage healthy growth and allow Purpley’s contrasting veins, sculpted shape and rich underside colouring to develop.
